Sony Ericsson and fashion watch distributor Fossil have teamed up to produce a range of Bluetooth watch-controlled mobiles.
First off the production line is the £200 MBW-100 – whose OLED display shows who is calling and enables users to manage calls and music using controls mounted on the watch. The MBW-100 also sends notification of arriving text messages and an out-of-range warning if separated from the phone.
The MBW-100 is only the first of multiple products and ranges planned by both companies both together and separately. Sony Ericsson said it will develop more co-branded watches but released no details – which suggests that the MBW-100 is something of a market test. Brand-conscious Fossil said it plans a range of wearable mobiles branded ‘Abacus MobileWear’ and Fossil-branded Caller ID-enabled watches.
The watches will be compatible with most Bluetooth-enabled Sony Ericsson phones.
