Telefónica has unveiled two new smart buttons for enterprise customers as part of its latest drive into the Internet of Things (IoT).
The smart buttons were created as part of the company’s IoT open platform, Thinking Things Open, which enables ‘connected objects to be quickly created’. The devices will use integrated, global SIMs to remove the need for a smartphone or PC, with Telefónica claiming ‘they just work’.
The two new buttons will introduce a ‘click and go’ feature which means the user will only have to click the button once to trigger the service. From an enterprise perspective, Telefónica explained that the smart buttons can be given out to customers to ‘order anything from a taxi to a pizza’.
Telefónica has said it is looking to further explore this market, with plans for a white-label customisable button to allow enterprises to meet specific B2B and consumer needs.
The announcement follows Telefónica’s collaboration with Samsung to ‘speed up the IoT market’ by integrating Samsung devices with Telefónica’s Thinking Things platform.
The ‘click and go’ buttons will be initially trialled with international shipping company Seur and Madrid taxi service Cabify.
