Liberty Global says ‘no timeframe’ for Voda asset swaps
Liberty Global’s CEO has revealed that there will be no timeframe on asset talks with Vodafone.
Earlier this year, the two companies announced they were in discussions over the exchange of ‘selected assets’, fuelling rumours of a potential merger between the telcos.
It remains unclear which assets have been involved in these talks, but Michael Fries, Liberty Global CEO confirmed this week that the discussions have ‘no timeframe. I can’t add anything else’.
Vodafone previously confirmed that it was ‘not in discussions with Liberty Global concerning a combination of the two companies’.
Talk of merging the companies arose after Liberty’s chairman John Malone said the two would be a ‘great fit’. He added that there would be ‘substantial synergies’ if the two companies could work together or ‘combine the companies’.
