Huawei has announced its first ever smartwatch will go on sale today in Western Europe.
The Huawei watch launch marks the manufacturer’s first foray into the wearables space, with Richard Yu, CEO of Huawei Consumer BG, claiming it will help the manufacturer become a market leader.
He said: ‘This first smartwatch in our wearables family has been designed following extensive research and demonstrated consumer demand for smart wrist wear.
‘The Huawei watch is unique within the market with its premium look and feel and classic design, combined with superior smart technology, which allows users to stay connected on the go. No doubt, wearable devices will remain one of the most significant trends in the device industry, and by leveraging Huawei’s technology and innovation, we aim to be a leader in the wearable space.’
The Huawei watch will run using Android Wear and will be priced between €399.00 (£293) and €699.00 (£513). The wearable will be available to preorder in the US from today, with Canada, Germany, France, Spain and Italy to follow this month.
The Huawei watch will be available in the UK, Japan and UAE in October.
