Strong iPhone sales power Apple Q4 revenue growth

Strong iPhone sales were behind Apple’s 22% revenue growth for the fourth quarter of 2015, the manufacturer’s has revealed.

The Californian brand said it had achieved record fourth quarter sales for the popular handset, supplementing it with all-time record laptop sales and revenue from services.

It also said that the expanded availability of the Apple Watch was a factor in the revenue growth. In the summer, the brand expanded its distribution to in include Best Buy stores in the US. Although no announcement has been made in the UK Dixons Carphone’s CEO Seb James has said that he expected to have the device by Christmas.

Strong fourth quarter figures

Apple recorded a total quarterly revenue of $51.5bn with a net profit of $11.1bn. This was up from last year’s fourth quarter performance which saw the manufacturer record revenue of $42.1bn and net profit of $8.5bn.

Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO said: ’Fiscal 2015 was Apple’s most successful year ever, with revenue growing 28% to nearly $234 billion. This continued success is the result of our commitment to making the best, most innovative products on earth, and it’s a testament to the tremendous execution by our teams.

‘We are heading into the holidays with our strongest product lineup yet, including iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus, Apple Watch with an expanded lineup of cases and bands, the new iPad Pro and the all-new Apple TV which begins shipping this week.’
