Sagem makes luxury handset for Porsche Design
Sagem has made its own bid for the high-end handset market by making a phone for Porsche Design.
The handset is expected to retail at around £800.
The P9521 is a Porsche-branded GSM phone with a 3.2 megapixel camera, made in aluminium. The screen swivels and it includes a fingerprint scanning security feature.
However, the Sagem brand is nowhere to be seen on the device.
Sagem has made previous attempts to use design to establish itself as a manufacturer of more expensive devices.
The Sagem Myx-8 was based on ideas from product designer Ora-Ito and released in 2004. However, despite its strong design and good camera, the device was considerably more expensive than Sagem’s typical range and was not picked up by UK operators.
The Porsche phone is however aimed at the Sim-free luxury market.
