Samsung replaces global mobile boss JK Shin
Samsung’s global mobile chief JK Shin will step back from day-to-day running of the division, the Korean manufacturer has announced.
The changes come as part of the brands annual reshuffle, which sees DJ Koh take on the daily running of the business. The manufacturer has said that Shin will remain in the division responsible for the long-term vision and strategy.
There have been a number of changes at the major manufacturers to varying degrees over the last couple of months.
Back in October HTC announced changes which saw its European business split into two units. Sony have also been restructuring significantly since Hiroki Totoki took over the smartphone division over a year ago.
Samsung’s UK boss Conor Pierce recently told Mobile that the brand will continue to examine its structure as the UK market evolves.
Pierce said: ‘Any company that sits on its laurels won’t be as competitive as it should be, so constantly Samsung is looking at how it is structured. A good example is how we’re heavily investing in our B2B structure and our organisation. The market is certainly not the market it was 2 or 3 years ago and we pivot to make sure we’re fit for purpose.’
