Samsung brings 3G to Ultra range
Samsung will launch 3G variants of its Ultra range of handsets before the end of the year, Mobile has learned.
The manufacturer is readying a slew of 3G-enabled handsets adhering to the same slimline design principles as their 2.5G siblings. At least one of the phones is scheduled to reach the UK market before the end of the year. Samsung sources say the devices will carry similar features and looks to the existing 2.5G handsets in the Ultra range.
The X820 is only 6.9mm thick, while the D900 measures 12.9mm. 3G devices are traditionally bulkier and heavier than their 2.5G counterparts, although Samsung insiders claim its 3G Ultra devices will boast similarly impressive measurements.
The manufacturer is currently enjoying strong sales of both the D900 and X820 handsets. The former is among the top-selling contract devices at both Phones 4U and the Carphone Warehouse.
