CES 2016: HTC and Under Armour launch wearable

The long-awaited wearable collaboration between HTC and Under Armour has been launched at CES in Las Vegas.

A connected health product known as UA HealthBox has been launched by the two brands and includes a fitness band (UA Band), heart rate monitor (UA Heart Rate) and smart scale (UA Scale). All of which connect to an app based system called UA Record.

The collaboration between the two companies was first announced at Mobile World Congress 2015. Significantly, though the products have been designed and manufactured by HTC appears to be the dominant branding with each of the products carrying the prefix UA.

Speaking about HTC’s first wearable device, Wolfgang Muller, executive director of connected products at the manufacturer said that he believed design would be a key differentiator: ‘At HTC design is an uncompromising part of our culture. It is our DNA and we have an obsessive focus on delivering beautiful design not just on the outside but on the inside too.

‘UA HealthBox is beautifully designed with no detail overlooked, but it was also designed to be a comprehensive connected system that is easy to use throughout the day and every day. This is what sets it apart from anything on the market today.’
