Huawei has used the CES event in Las Vegas to reveal ambitions to ‘build a new mobile ecosystem’ of partners.
The manufacturer announced details of a number of products that feature collaboration’s with a number of brand’s including: Harmon/Kardon, Swarovski and Google.
Huawei are not the first technology brand to seek partners in the worlds of fashion and audio. In March of last year Samsung announced a number of partnerships with fashion companies to make accessories for its flagship S6 edge products. Whilst Apple famously bought Dr Dre’s Beats Electronics headphone brand back in 2014.
Gold phones and crystal watches
Harmon/Kardon’s relationship with the Chinese brand will see it provide its Clari-Fi audio technology for the manufacturer’s M2 Tablet.
Swarovski will partner with Huawei on the ‘Huawei Watch for Lady’ which is a new design version of the Huawei Watch featuring the Swiss brand’s crystals.
Huawei revealed that its continued collaboration with Google will also see the release of a ‘luxurious, premium device’ a gold version of the Nexus 6P.
Discussing the strategy behind Huawei’s partnership Richard Yu, CEO of the Consumer Business Group, said that the brand hopes to build a network of associated brands through the deals: ‘Through the different types of devices Huawei creates, we are convening a new mobile ecosystem of partners that bring together the best in technology and lifestyle design.
‘The products that result from these collaborations define premium by combining the industry’s best technology, fashion and sound, providing our customers with the ultimate user experience. Together with our partners, we are proud to deliver the devices that today’s discerning consumers are demanding.’
