Virgin Media could cut 900 jobs as part of organisational changes

Virgin Media could make around 900 UK redundancies over the next 2 years as part of organisational changes.

The business has entered a period of consultation with employees in roles which may be affected.

Overall the business says that it is still plans to grow its staff numbers directly and through partners from 23,000 in 2015 to more than 25,000 in 2016. The brand says that its Project Lightning £3bn broadband infrastructure investment will also see it create 6,000 new jobs in the UK at Virgin Media and across construction partners.

Mockridge speaks

Giving his take on the reorganisation CEO of Virgin Media Tom Mockridge, said: ‘Over the last three years Virgin Media has been transformed. We’re expanding, investing and growing our business. The proposed reorganisation will give us an even sharper focus on the customer, network expansion and business growth.’

Mockridge recently spoke out regarding the BT takeover of EE describing it as a ‘compliment’ to his business.
