Dealers set their sights on the ‘untapped’ ‘IoT market

The push into IoT will come from dealers looking to take advantage of the ‘untapped’ market, One Connectivity has told Mobile.

CEO Paul Stevenson explained that dealers are now targeting the connected space to seek new opportunities within the market. His comments echoed Rainbow Comms, who told Mobile last year that it is the responsibility of unified comms dealers to ‘get on board’ with M2M and IoT.

Stevenson said: ‘The push into IoT will come from dealers. The networks are more than happy to support us, so they’re happier to work with us to get into the connected space rather than work against and compete against us.

‘You tend to find that networks can’t accommodate it because of the structure of their network whereas we had the opportunity to deliver SIMs across networks and ones that can roam between networks. It opens a lot of opportunities to customers, it opens a door for our partners to speak to companies whereas before they would have gone direct to the networks.

‘It’s all about connections, you tend to find that the m2m industry turns customers form having 10 connections to 120 connections and it makes them stickier.

‘It’s an untapped market that a lot of partners are looking to move into that, it will be huge in the next 2 years but customers aren’t aware of it. When we talk to our partners they want to get involved but I don’t think people understand it enough. For us it’s about getting our customers talking about it and letting them know what can be done.’
