A number of high street retailers have revealed pre-order details for the new Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 devices within hours of launch.
The two new devices were recently announced at Mobile World Congress, with UK high street retailer Carphone Warehouse and network Vodafone jumping on the virtual reality (VR) features of the Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 edge.
The Dixons Carphone owned brand described the new handsets as ‘revolutionary’, with both Carphone Warehouse and Vodafone offering customers who pre-order a free Samsung Gear VR headset.
Aman Bhachu, General Manager, Connectivity and Customer Solutions at Carphone Warehouse, said: ‘The new Samsung Galaxy S7 range is a truly exciting development for our customers. The continued evolution of the mobile world has marked some of the most innovative tech we’ve seen, and it’s clear VR is the next step in revolutionising the way we view content. The return of water resistance on the S7 is most welcomed, most of us have had the mobile mis-hap of liquid damage so it’s added peace of mind.’
EE has also announced that the new handsets purchased directly through EE will have the network’s WiFi and 4G calling enabled.
O2 customers refresh
Anticipated demand for Samsung’s new flagship range has seen a number of networks and retailers offer the devices three days before the official launch date. O2 has taken advantage of its Refresh tariff to allow new Samsung galaxy S7 and S7 edge buyers to upgrade within 12 months. The network has also chosen to go heavy on data allowance, enabling customers to choose up to 30GB of data, starting at £59 a month.
‘We know that there’s nothing better than always having the latest phone, which is why we've created a tariff to always keep Samsung fans ahead of the curve,’ said Nina Bibby, O2’s Marketing and Consumer Director. ‘Plus, with data allowances of up to 30GB, our customers will have complete flexibility with how they use their new Galaxy S7 or Galaxy S7 edge and how they upgrade it too.’
Pre-orders on Vodafone will start at £44 a month plus a £29.99 upfront cost, while for Carphone Warehouse starts at £36 a month with a steeper upfront cost of £129.99 for the Galaxy S7 edge and £79.99 for the Galaxy S7.
For O2 the new Galaxy S7 range will start at £46 a month with a upfront fee of £29.99, while the S7 edge will start at £51 a month. EE have announced that pre-orders will start at £44.49 a month.
