No network, no contract and no service. Unless you're not in a hotspot. Broadband telephone operator Vonage has released a wireless internet phone called the Vonage F1000.
Using Wi-Fi access points, the F1000 accesses the internet when in a 50m radius of a hotspot. Users can then make phone calls to anywhere in the world at low internet rates.
It can be used in the home or office and other hotspot areas include hotels, airports and coffee shops. No roaming rates apply, so when travelling phone calls are still made at low internet prices rather than network roaming fees.
The handset is available for about £90 from www.vonage.co.uk.
