HTC reveals pricing and UK release for VR headset

HTC has announced details of the UK pricing and release date for its Vive virtual reality headset.

The manufacturer’s venture into the VR space has been long anticipated, it first announced that it would release a headset at Mobile World Congress 2015.

Priced at just under £700 the Vive virtual reality headset will begin pre-orders from today.

The VR-evolution

There has been a significant emphasis on virtual reality from mobile manufacturers in recent years.

Many of the established brands have been steadily developing VR offerings. This year Samsung used Mobile World Congress to push its Gear VR headset at the launch of the new S7 and S7 edge devices.

LG also revealed a VR product at the show, and of course there was the HTC Vive device which featured prominently once again.

It remains to be seen where these products will hit the mainstream, but with Samsung offering a free headset with pre-orders of its new phones there is certainly a desire from manufacturers to make it work.
