Lycamobile launch airtime transfer service for UK users

Lycamobile has launched a new airtime transfer service, enabling users to send mobile credit globally.

Lycamobile explained that the new airtime offering will allow customers in the UK and a number of European countries to transfer a minimum of £1 to other mobile networks around the world.

The last few months has seen the MVNO move to create a money transfer platform for its customers. At the close of 2015, the MVNO launched Lycaremit to stake a claim in the money remittance market, which it claims was worth $586bn.

Chairman Subaskaran Allirajah has previously revealed plans to step up the vital services Lycamobile offers. Speaking at the launch of the new airtime service, he said the feature is in response to customer demand.

He said: ‘By allowing our customers to transfer their pay as you go credit across networks and borders, we are making staying connected even easier. We’re excited to roll this new feature out as we know this is a service our customers have been asking for.’
