Manchester has been named as the best city for mobile coverage, according to the latest report from Rootmetrics.
The data compared 16 cities across the UK, in terms of quality of calls, texts and data across networks EE, O2, Three and Vodafone. Each city was then ranked according to best overall mobile performance.
Rootmetrics’ report for the first half of 2015 previously put Manchester in third place, with its latest rankings putting the city in the top spot for data performance and network reliability. This was ahead of Birmingham and Liverpool, while London came thirteenth.
Scott Stonham, RootMetrics General Manager of Europe, called for more to be done to improve coverage in highly populated areas of the UK.
He said: ‘Providing good mobile coverage in London is always going to be difficult due to the density of the population, the architecture and changes in demand on capacity. Our data shows there is still some room for improvement in some of the UK’s most populous areas, and more needs to be done to ensure a good mobile service - a vital part of a city’s basic infrastructure.’
