TalkTalk has become the first mobile brand to roll out voice recognition security technology to its customers.
The MVNO will offer its customers the option of using their voice as a password accessing account details over the phone using the service.
The service known as ‘TalkSafe’ uses the same technology as the banking sector, the operator explained that the introduction of the technology would save customers time.
Security has been a hot topic for TalkTalk since it suffered a cyber-attack before Christmas last year. Around 95,000 customers left the network as a result of the security breach although financially the brand still managed to achieve increased revenue.
Customers want voice
Explaining the reasoning behind the decision to introduce the technology Tristia Harrison, TalkTalk’s consumer managing director, said: ‘We’ve listened to what our customers have told us about wanting a simple, secure service. TalkSafe is an important and exciting step on that journey.
‘As the first UK telecoms provider to roll out voice biometrics as standard, we’re proud to be leading the way in making this advanced technology accessible to millions of homes across the country at no extra cost.’
