Dixons Carphone snaps up switching service

Dixons Carphone has agreed to acquire price comparison and switching service SimplifyDigital.

The Ofcom accredited platform will enable customers to compare broadband, energy, digital TV and fixed line telephone contracts, making it easier to switch service providers.

Dixons Carphone CEO Seb James said that the acquisition, expected to be completed at the end of March, will strengthen the retailer’s quad play proposition. He also explained that the announcement marked the company’s continued focus on services.

The high street brand has taken a number of steps to ramp up in-store services, most recently partnering with Lenovo and HTV Vive to launch in-store demonstrations and experience zones.

James said: ‘Bringing Simplifydigital into the Dixons Carphone family will further solidify our position as the best place for customers to receive independent advice across all their technology, connectivity, media content and service needs and positions us well to take advantage of emerging trends in the market, such as quadplay.

‘It is also an important part of our wider plan of building a significant Services business, where Dixons Carphone becomes the trusted partner in our customers’ homes for responsive, accessible, expert and affordable technology support.
