Dixons Carphone capped off a year of exceptional performance by landing three trophies at the 2016 Mobile Industry Awards.
The overall business was rewarded for its stellar year with the Exceptional Performance prize.
The new award is for the business, product or individual who has been the standout performer in the mobile industry over the last year, and there was little doubt over this year’s winner. Dixons Carphone also saw its Mobiles.co.uk business land the Best Online Retailer title, whilst Group CEO Sebastian James claimed the Person of the Year crown.
EE saw its investment in retail rewarded with the Best High Street Retailer trophy. The operator impressed judges with the way it used its network as the standout selling feature and how it had made the most of its revamped store formats.
John Lewis’ incredible growth in the mobile phone hardware space was rewarded with victory in the Best SIM-Free Retailer category. Argos who ran John Lewis close were also in attendance at the black tie London event.
The Best Franchise category was a close call with Telenomics and the Avertec Group both putting in strong entries, in the end it was the Avertec Group who just came out on top.
Tech Data Mobile’s strong 2016 retail performance proved decisive in the Best Retail Distributor prize.
Samsung meanwhile claimed the Best Manufacturer Field Marketing Team award once again.
