Aaron Robinson from Tesco Mobile in Dumfries has beaten competitors from every major UK retailer to be crowned Shop Idol 2016.
The Alcatel sponsored annual competition, now in its 12th year takes place over six months and features mystery shops, votes, live challenges, tests and interviews to find the ultimate mobile sales person.
Aaron’s victory represents the first time a Tesco Mobile staff member has taken home the prestigious title, which was previously the subject of six part BBC Two documentary series “Phone Shop Idol”.
Competition judge and Alcatel Open Market Director Andy Watts described why Aaron is Shop Idol 2016: 'Aaron represents the complete package - product knowledge, a personable approach and a passion for helping people. As well as scoring incredibly in every challenge we could throw at him, he also possesses an enigmatic ability to make you laugh and to make you feel that your best interests are his own.'
The winner announcement took place at the Mobile Industry Awards at The Brewery in London in a ceremony which also saw Carphone Warehouse CEO Seb James win the Person of the Year title for a second year running.
