Huawei reveals new Honor 5C handset

Huawei sub-brand Honor announced the European release of its latest budget smartphone, the Honor 5C.

The device is similar in style and specification to its sister handset, the Honor 5X which was launched earlier this year. However, this new model features a Huawei-built processor rather than the 5X’s Qualcomm chipset and no fingerprint scanner.

The dual SIM device is currently available on Huawei’s online store, Amazon, Ebuyer, Clove and Expansys. It was also revealed that the device would be stocked in Three stores from August onwards.

Akin Li, Managing Director of Honor Western Europe described the product stating, ‘We are incredibly proud to introduce a smartphone to the European audience that equips consumers with the absolute essentials they need for their always-on lifestyles.’

Mobile Choice Editor Sunetra Chakravarti highlighted the value for money the new device represents, stating ‘The kind of specs that Honor have offered for the £149 price tag is phenomenal. Honor have carved out a niche for themselves for being a very affordable line of smartphones with the brains of the Huawei R&D team who also made the incredible P9.’
