HTC and former CEO Peter Chou cut ties

HTC’s former CEO Peter Chou has left the business.

Chou previously headed up the Taiwanese manufacturer as CEO and co-founder, sharing the top job with fellow co-founder Cher Wang. Chou held the top spot for a decade before handing over the reins to Wang at the beginning of 2015.

This saw the former top boss stay on as an advisor for HTC, taking on an executive role within the manufacturer’s future development lab. In this position Chou was responsible for seeking new growth opportunities for the business but HTC has now confirmed that Chou has retired from this role.

‘HTC can confirm that Peter Chou retired from the company after assuming the chairmanship of Digital Domain in September 2015, although he was retained as an advisor to enable HTC to leverage his extensive experience,’ the company said in a statement. ‘We thank Peter for his long-term commitment to the business and wish him well in his retirement.’

Chou is expected to carry on his chairmanship at digital production company, Digital Domain, a role he took on in September 2015.
