Analysts suggest Samsung smartphones sales rise

Strong sales of the Samsung Galaxy S7 device will boosts the manufacturer’s profits according to a Thompson Reuters analyst survey.

The survey suggests that the brand sold 16 million units of the new flagship device between April and June, and that poor sales from Huawei and Apple helped reduced the firm’s marketing spend.

Samsung is due to report its earning guidance on Thursday, and any news of a better than expected performance would be warmly received by investors. Both Samsung and Apple suggested earlier this year that sales of smartphones would be far lower than in previous years.

The Korean manufacturer did see an improvement in sales for its S7 device in the first quarter of the year up 8% on the previous period. Warnings about future smartphone sales are persistent with a number of other manufacturers reporting lower numbers.
