EE will offer Apple Music for free as part of its latest consumer promotion.
The network explained that new or upgrading customers will be receiving free access to Apple’s music streaming service for six months.
This is first time that Apple has offered its music app to a UK network. The timely announcement comes in the same week that Apple Music offered exclusive access to Frank Ocean’s long awaited album.
The deal marks another aggressive push from the network towards content after EE offered customers all-inclusive access to BT Sports, a move that did not go down well with rival Virgin Media.
Commenting on the Apple Music offer, network CEO Marc Allerasaid: ‘We’re delighted to be the first UK operator to offer Apple Music, with its incredible catalogue of songs, playlists, and Beats 1 radio.
‘As the UK’s biggest and fastest network, our focus is on bringing our customers the best 4G coverage in the most places. But we also look to bring our customers services from the best companies in the world. In Apple Music there is no doubt that we have found that, and together we’ll provide customers with an outstanding music experience on the biggest and fastest mobile network in the UK.’
The EE promotion will launch in the UK on 1st September, the same week as Apple’s Keynote event where the US tech giant is expected to reveal a number of new handsets.
