EE has revamped its accessories plan to include wireless headphones and virtual reality headsets.
The network’s ‘Add to Plan’ promotion enables customers on a 24 month plan to choose accessories bundles and spread the cost over 18 months. The revamp will include wireless headphones, wearables such as Fitbit and VR headsets for as little as £3 a month.
The timely refresh comes on the day of Apple’s Keynote event where the US tech giant is expected to launch the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. A key feature of the flagships is expected to be the removal of the headphone jack, with users to turn to wireless headphones instead.
The next phase of 4G
EE has also unveiled the next stage of its 4G network, adding extra capacity to help smartphones run faster. This will be made possible by adding an extra layer of spectrum to support devices with Cat 9; a new capability built into handsets such as the Samsung S7 and S7 Edge that enables high speed data access.
This new Cat 9 capability will be run across EE’s 4G+ network, which is currently used to support Cat 6 devices. Commenting on the new phase, CEO Marc Allera said: ‘There’s no point having the latest smartphones on a network that can’t support the top speeds the device is capable of.
‘We’ve invested in our network to ensure that all of our customers get the most out of the amazing smartphones they have, and can keep up with the highest speeds that the latest devices offer. With 4G+ now supporting Cat 9 devices, plus Wi-Fi Calling and 4G Calling, customers on EE will continue to get more from their new smartphone than on any other network in the UK.’
