Samsung adds to Ultra range
As tipped by Mobile Counter Intelligence last month, Samsung has unveiled three 3G-enabled variants of its slimline Ultra handsets.
The slider Z720, clamshell Z620 and bar-style Z370 all bear a striking resemblance to their 2.5G counterparts, but add full 3G support and secondary cameras for video calling. All three handsets are about 2mm thicker than their siblings, but Samsung claims they're still the slimmest 3G devices on the market.
The 13.8mm Z720 and 11.8mm Z620 both boast HSDPA functionality, meaning download speeds up to five times faster than 3G. The Z370 measures only 8.4mm but settles for 3G speed only.
All three devices are expected to launch in the UK later this year at price points similar to their 2.5G counterparts. The 12.9mm Samsung D900 has been performing strongly since it launched last month, and the manufacturer is hoping that added 3G functionality will boost sales of the Ultra range even further.
