O2 will exclusively stock the OnePlus3 device, the operator has revealed.
The network becomes the first UK retailer to stock the device which was previously available on an exclusive basis. Customers needed an invite in order to buy the device. Previous iterations were highly rated by reviewers, which combined with the limited availability gave the product a degree of notoriety.
However, the manufacturer announced a change of tact with its newest product the OnePlus3 which will be available without an invite. The brand was also the first to announce a higher UK price as a result of the pound’s post-Brexit depreciated value.
Sunetra Chakravarti, editor of Mobile Choice, said: 'This is a coup of sorts for O2. OnePlus has always had the ear of the consumer because of the quality of their smartphones and the keen pricing. OnePlus 3 has been highly rated by reviewers and is a quality handset for £329. The fact that consumers will now be able to spread the cost makes the deal sweeter.'
Car Pei co-founder of OnePlus said that his company had picked O2 because of a strong history with premium products: ’We chose O2 as our exclusive partner in this important market because they have a history of focusing on the most premium smartphones for the most savvy users, which aligns very well with our products and users. We look forward to sending ripples through the market together with O2.’
