EE lands exclusive Google Pixel deal

EE has secured a network exclusive on the new Google phones the Pixel and the Pixel XL.

The operator also landed an exclusive deal to offer the Google Daydream View virtual reality device. The headset turns the Pixel and Pixel XL into an immersive VR device.

Carphone Warehouse will also be stocking the device; the retailer suffered an embarrassment on Monday when it accidentally revealed details about the device on its website.

As Monday’s leak suggested the 5” Pixel and 5.5” Pixel XL carry the latest version of Android’s 7.1 Nougat operating system. The sleek devices feature an aluminium body, Corning Gorilla Glass 4 on the front and back to make them damage resistant, and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor and a 12MP main camera.

Google’s two handsets also come with unlimited cloud storage and feature Google Assistant, an advanced voice activated virtual personal assistant. The Pixel devices also include apps Duo and Allo, for simple video calling and smart messaging.
