Steve Cox is the new chief operating officer and board member at ICT and Telecoms dealer Chess.
The new COO’s role includes overseeing the consolidation and structuring of recent IT service and supply acquisitions such as Lanway, Pinnacle, Parachute IT and PowerC IT into Chess’s ICT arm.
Joining Chess from his main board director role at rival IT solutions provider, Technology Service Group, Cox has over 20 years experience in the industry, with previous positions at Intermediate Capital Group, Barclays Capital and Ford.
The board addition comes soon after the company opened its new offices in Burnley, where their recent acquisition Lanway was based for over 20 years. As part of the integration process, Lanway’s managing director Andrew Henderson will lead Chess’ ICT management team while Tamar White is now Head of Technical Operations.
The new COO explained his decision to join Chess stating, ‘I always wanted to be part of an ambitious and growing company that values its people. My vision was to build a single national IT Service provider with a local presence built on the foundations of passionate people delivering quality service”.
On his strategy for Chess, Steve Cox said, ‘My number one goal is to achieve our shared vision and strive to make Chess a great place to be a customer. To do that we have to get our structure, the interaction with our customers and our systems right.”
