Sellmymobile.com has been acquired by telecoms comparison provider Decision Tech for an undisclosed sum. The purchase was described by Decision Tech as part of their strategy to increase their consumer facing brands and develop new products for their partners.
Decision Tech currently runs consumer facing comparison sites broadbandchoices.co.uk and www.schlaubi.de, while also providing telecoms comparison functionality for GoCompare and Confused.com
With an estimated £12 billion worth of unused phones sitting in draws and cupboards around the UK, the mobile recycling market is seen as a growth area of the market, with nearly all retailers both online and on the high street offering a recycling service.
Decision Tech’s CEO Michael Philips described the purchase stating, ‘Our acquisition strategy is focused on identifying businesses that generate customer data, provide cross sales opportunities or enhance existing marketing and commercial competencies. Sellmymobile.com is a fantastic addition to our portfolio and we are delighted to welcome the company to the Group.’
He continued, ‘There is a huge opportunity to expand customer data collection with Sellmymobile to improve the customer experience and provide relevant cross sales opportunities for our consumers and our broadband and mobile merchant partners.’
Developing on this, Decision Tech's mobile products senior commercial manager Thom Bryan told Mobile 'We want to take greater ownership of the customer journey, so that we can learn more about the needs of the consumers on all of our comparison products, and then proactively offer them relevant decision that will improve their lives. SellMyMobile.com is the market lead and we see it working closely with broadbandchoices.co.uk and our network of white label partners, which includes gocompare.com and Confused.com.'
