O2 Launches Apple business device management solution

O2 business customers are now able to add corporate-owned iPhones and iPads to O2’s mobile device management systems and benefit from Apple’s Device Enrolment Programme (DEP). This makes the network the first operator to offer DEP to small business customers, though broadband and infrastructure giant BT had previously launched Apple's DEP for small businesses on 1 September for BT Business customers.

 

The Device Enrolment Programme allows remote yet individualised configuration of account settings, apps and corporate service access. Beyond configuration business can also use DEP to monitor employee activity, set security protocols or web content filtering. For O2 business users, these features will now be accessible through O2’s mobile device management (MDM) solution, thereby coupling with standard business features on the network such as Next Day Swap Out.

 

 In a statement explaining what this gives to O2’s business offerings, sales director Ben Dowd stated, ‘We believe the Device Enrolment Programme will be a key component in our comprehensive Managed Mobility portfolio and can work with businesses to provide a single solution for the deployment and management of iOS devices.”

 

When asked by Mobile as to whether these features would be available to channel partners, he replied ‘We are currently the only operator to offer Apple DEP enabled devices for small business customers and we are looking at options to extend this service to our indirect channels too.'
