GreenTech Distribution and Mobile Phones Direct were both listed in the top 50 of this year’s Sunday Times Virgin Fast Track 100. The yearly list highlights the UK’s fastest growing private companies.
GreenTech Distribution, a device distribution, testing, repair and recycling service finished ninth on the list after coming first in 2015. The company achieved a 143.84% rise in revenues over a three year period, with over £64 million of sales in the past year alone. Describing GreenTech Distribution, the Sunday Times writes, ‘Co-founder and chief executive Richard Crawley, 44 set up GreenTech Distribution in 2010 when RP Europe, a telecoms distributor he owned, began to receive requests to recycle mobile handsets. The High Wycombe company has since ridden the boom in smartphones and now offers a ranges of services to network operators, insurers and distributors, such as EE and Asurion.’
Commenting on their inclusion, CEO Richard Crawley told Mobile, 'Another top ten position in the Sunday Times FastTrack 100 League this year is a really great achievement for our business, following on from our number one position in the 2015 table.
'For me, it is further evidence that we are building a strong company for the long-term and it indicates we are heading in the right direction through hard work, the dedication of our employees and maintaining a focus on our core strategy.
'The last year of trading has seen some challenges with uncertainties around European markets following the ‘Brexit’ referendum here in the UK, but we have done our utmost to maintain our growth rate despite this.

Online retailer Mobile Phones Direct ranked 35th, achieving an 85.15% rise in revenue over three years, and securing over £79 million of sales in the last year. The Sunday Times described Mobile Phones Direct stating. ‘Chairman Karl Borges, 52, founded this online phone retailer in 2011 after starting with a bricks-and-mortar shop of the same name. Led by chief executive Ben Branson, 44, the Berkshire company sells mobilephone accessories, handsets from manufacturers such as Apple,Samsung and Sony, and contracts from providers EE, Vodafone and Talkmobile.’
Mobile approached Mobile Phones Direct for comment and are awaiting their response.
Previous Fast Track 100 success stories include Innocent Smothies, ARM and Carphone Warehouse, the latter were first included in 1997 with £65 million in sales.
