Unshackled.com boosts its digital team

Mobile industry disruptor Unshackled.com has strengthened its digital team with two appointments.

Eleanor Wheeler joins from Boohoo.com where she spent four years as performance marketing manager. Her focus will be on strengthening Unshackled.com’s market position through digital strategy.

Riven Alyx Buckley joins the business as content and community manager. With a background in customer services and writing, she will be taking the lead on content generation and social media.

Buckley said “Unshackled.com has quickly defined a distinctive brand voice, so now it’s about using that voice to build momentum alongside our advertising campaign. I think there's going to be a revolution in favour of the customer in the mobile market and we’ll be at the core of this.”

The Manchester-based business was co-founded by Phones4u’s former chief commercial officer, John Whittle, ex-chief financial officer John Morris and ex-chief legal officer Steven Lloyd. Launched last year, its website offers 'split' tariffs through matchmaking consumers with mobile networks and finance providers to provide the best deal on the handset and tariff they want.

Marketing director Julie Snape commented: ‘We are consumer champions first and foremost and our ongoing strategy is focused on communicating to consumers that there is a better way to buy a mobile. Most consumers know that they aren’t getting the best deal but there were limited alternative options available, until now. We are hoping to drive the much-needed change in the mobile industry.’
