Huawei has announced the P8 Lite 2017, the successor to one of its best-selling smartphones. Described as ‘designed for selfies and excellent at capturing photos in low light surroundings’, the P8 Lite 2017 features a rounded edge finish in polished glass and a 5.2 inch full-HD 2.5D screen.
Photo functions include user speed, depth and clarity control of the 12MP camera which has a f2.2 aperture lens. The camera, equipped with 1.25μm pixels also allows users to capture brighter images in low light conditions.
The front camera of the P8 Lite 2017 is 8MP with f2.0 aperture, and has automatic recognition of faces and photography modes.
Featuring a dual SIM port and micro USB, the P8 Lite 2017 has a Kirin 655 Octo Core processor engraved in 16nm, 3GB of RAM, and 16GB of storage (expandable up to 256GB via microSD card).
The 3000 mAh battery provides a long usage time even while using power consuming features, offering 15 hours of video playback, 36 hours phone calls, 11 hours of 4G navigation, or 93 hours of music.
The new EMUI 5.0 Android ™ 7.0 (Nougat) interface can be personalised by the user, and optimises the configuration of the storage disk as well as the reading and writing of files.
Also new is updated fingerprint recognition which unlocks the phone in less than 0.3 seconds.
Weight is 147g (with battery) and measurements are 147.2(h) x 73(w) x 7.63(d) mm.
In the UK, the Huawei P8 Lite 2017 16GB version (3GB RAM) in Black will be available first on Vodafone in retail stores and by phone from the 1st of February, on PAYG for £185 and contract from £16 per month. It will be added to Vodafone online shortly after.
