BlackBerry adds camera
RIM has added music and camera functions to its latest BlackBerry device, hoping to attract an audience beyond hardcore business users.

The BlackBerry Pearl 8100 carries a 1.3-megapixel camera with flash together with a music and video player and a microSD card slot.

It also boasts the usual BlackBerry features, including push-email, a double-tap QWERTY keyboard and web browser. There is no support for 3G although the device does feature EDGE connectivity.

The device is also sleeker and slimmer than many other models in RIM's range, boasting a large colour screen and is only 14.5mm thick.

RIM's latest is expected to hit retail in October this year. Most networks are expected to pick up the device to complement their existing business portfolios.
