Alcatel plans to reduce its environmental impact with smaller boxes
Handset maker Alcatel has reduced its phone packaging to a third of its conventional box sizes, in a bid to reduce the environmental impact of packaging and save weight.
The company said it had worked with consultants Carbon Footprint to reduce pack sizes and eliminate non-biodegradable materials such as foam from its boxes.
The new packs are also being pitched as a bonus for retailers and distributors who can save space.
Three new handsets are expected to be released in the new packs over the coming months.
