Emblaze builds lobsters
The first handset to emerge from Virgin's partnership with Emblaze is the Lobster 544, as reported earlier this week by Mobile CI.
The launch of the Lobster 544 is likely to boost sales of the manufacturer's products. Only a few of its other handsets are available on the UK market, neither of them having proved a strong seller so far.
Virgin signed up Emblaze last month to provide and distribute products for its Lobster range handsets. The deal is not an exclusive one, but it does make it Virgin's preferred supplier. Another two or three Lobster handsets are understood to be on their way before the end of the year.
The 544, as with previous Lobster models, is aimed at the low cost end of the market, particularly teenagers. It's a clamshell headset equipped with a 1.3 megapixel camera, MP3 player and a 64MB memory card.
