Delay for W960i
Sony Ericsson has made a U-turn on the release date for its new W960i Walkman handset, admitting that the announcement it would ship from November was mistakenly sent out this week.
The manufacturer said the handset was expected to be released in January as there was too much competition from the prepay market in December.
The W960i, a Wi-Fi phone with a high-performance media player, was planned for release before Christmas. It was unveiled in June 2007 and the manufacturer said it marked the 'next generation of Walkman phones'. The handset has room for up to 8,000 songs and finger-touch navigation around playlists on the large touch-screen. The 2.6-inch display also serves as a viewfinder for a 3.2-megapixel camera and as a widescreen for watching video.
