3 makes way for advertisers
3 is expected to relaunch its Planet 3 portal next month in a bid to increase mobile advertising revenue.
Reports suggest the relaunch will see Planet 3’s advertising inventory increase by up to five times. A 3 spokeswoman would not give further details, but said: ‘Yes, customers can expect to see some changes to Planet 3 in December.’
The move indicates that the demand for mobile advertising is on the rise as brands try to extend their reach. 3 has made substantial efforts to make the most of the mobile advertising trend.
It launched a free-to-access video service in March this year, offering users access to content for free in return for receiving adverts.Over one million customers have signed up to the service, which includes ads from brands like Microsoft and Unilever.
