3 opens 250th standalone store
3 opened its 250th store last week at Royal Victoria Place in Tunbridge Wells, following a 31-store rollout over the course of November. The network claims it is the fastest rollout in UK telecoms history.
The most recent stores have been given a new design, which includes more space to browse with demonstrations of services such as Skype alongside graphics on the walls and timber furnishings.
Sales director Marc Allera said: ‘Reaching 250 standalone stores is an exciting step in the growth and development of the company. Our retail team has managed a lightning rollout across the UK, making 3 a major player on the high street for the first time. We wanted to ensure our stores offered both our customers and retail landlords a reason to choose 3. Our latest-design stores add something new to the retail mix and our compelling mobile broadband and 3 Skypephone offers mean 3 stores offer consumers something fresh.’
3 has opened 150 stores throughout the year, of which 49 resulted from acquisitions. The company plans to open another 20 by the end of the year and will continue the rollout in 2008.
