Sony Ericsson sponsors Champions League
Sony Ericsson has secured a deal with UEFA to be a ‘tier-two sponsor’ of the Champions League, Mobile understands.
The deal is thought to be in place already, although neither UEFA nor Sony Ericsson were able to confirm it.
Sony and Sony PlayStation are already two of the six headline sponsors of the tournament, which also include Vodafone, Heineken, MasterCard and Ford.
Separately, T-Mobile has ended sponsorship of its cycling team following a series of high-profile doping scandals. The team, which includes Britons Mark Cavendish and Bradley Wiggins, will be renamed Team High Road.
CEO of T-Mobile International Hamid Akhavan described the split as a ‘difficult decision’. He said: ‘We arrived at this decision to separate our brand from further exposure from doping in sport and cycling specifically.’
