Nokia closes in on Avvenu acquisition

Nokia closes in on Avvenu acquisition

Nokia is set to acquire Avvenu, a company that allows anyone to use their mobile handset to access information from their computer. The service means that users can securely access, use and share personal computer files, even when the computer is turned off.  Nokia said it believes that anytime access to PC content is a ‘missing ingredient to mobile productivity’.

Nokia executive vice president and general manager of enterprise solutions Mary McDowell said: ‘This acquisition is another step toward delivering on Nokia’s business mobility strategy.’

Avvenu CEO Richard French added: ‘We share Nokia’s vision of quickly and easily connecting people with their information and content regardless of where they are in the world, and whether their PC is with them or not.’

The acquisition has not been completed yet and is subject to customary closing conditions.
