Samsung and O2 release ultra-durable handset

Samsung and O2 have announced the launch of their first ‘ultra durable’ handset, the Samsung Solid.

The handset comes encased in a thick rubber body, has built-in anti-shock, and is dust and water-resistant.

Samsung and O2 say they are aiming the device at tradesmen, extreme sports enthusiasts or simply those who need a durable phone.

The handset also has a decent array of standard features, including built in FM radio, Bluetooth connectivity, VGA camera, flash light and a long life battery.

It will compete for a similar market to the JCB Toughphone, a handset manufactured by US company Sonim, which was announced in November.

The Samsung Solid is available at O2 and is free on all 12 monthly contracts or £59.99 on O2 Pay As You Go.
