Alexander raids Virgin to bolster management team

New Orange CEO Tom Alexander has raided his former company, Virgin Mobile, to make three high profile management team appointments.

Andrew Ralston is the operator’s new chief operations officer, Gerry McQuade is now chief development officer and Steven Day has landed the chief of staff & communications role.

Ralston will chair a newly formed operations board, which will be responsible for ensuring Orange UK’s competitiveness and the successful day-to-day running of the business.

McQuade will chair a newly assembled development board, which will be responsible for ensuring Orange UK has clearly defined, integrated and communicated priorities.

Meanwhile Day will be responsible for communications and culture across all of Orange’s UK operations.

Tom Alexander said: ‘Orange is one of the best communications businesses in the world. As a long-term fan of its famous customer innovations and great service, I’m delighted to have taken up my appointment, and welcome three new people to the team.

He added: “Over the coming weeks, the UK management and myself will be working together to ensure the right things are in place to ensure ongoing success for Orange’
