Yahoo! to push mobile advertising
In his CES keynote speech, Yahoo! CEO Jerry Yang said that its online business model is advertising based, and it plans to bring the same model to mobile, enabling brands to advertise on mobile phones.
‘We are taking the same technologies that we have done for developers and giving them to advertisers… Advertisers face the same issues as developers: how do I reach as many consumers a possible? And how do I create a more compelling experience for my product that runs on as many devices?’
Vodafone and virtual network operator Blyk have been pushing advertising on mobile phones in the UK market. The MVNO has partnered with Yahoo! in the UK to bring advertising content on phones in an opt-in scheme, which aims to entice consumers with discounted content.
