Mobile internet demand growing, says Carphone CEO
Carphone Warehouse said it has been overwhelmed by the increasing demand for USB modem dongles, which provide 3G internet access for laptops.
The retailer is struggling to get hold of stock for the devices, which are providing a stream of new business – albeit at relatively small margins.
Speaking after last week's results, Carphone CEO Charles Dunstone said: ‘We’ve had a lot of difficulty getting hold of dongles this quarter; sales were restricted by availability rather than demand. This year there is more of a focus on dongles from the carriers and we will be supporting that. There will be an increased range in 2008.
