Multimedia devices bring Nokia's market share to 40%
Nokia claims to have reached 40% market share at the end of 2007. In total the manufacturer shipped 133.5 million devices during the final quarter of 2007 – 27% more than in 4Q06.
Multimedia handsets brought up the total with over 11 million Nseries and over two million Eseries phones shipped during the quarter. Increased sales in the multimedia division were driven by sales of Nseries handsets, especially the N95, the 8GB N95 and the N73.
Operating profit were up 46% for the quarter year on year, with mobile phones division increasing profits by 33% and multimedia division’s profits up by 69%. Margins also increased from 13% to 15.9%.
