New cut-throat commissions at Phones 4u
Phones 4u is changing its staff commission structure from volume to gross profit, in a bid to weed out some of the less productive staff, Mobile has been informed.
The changes, to be implemented from 1 February, mean that staff will need to bring in £9,000 profit from sales per month to receive the full amount of commission.
Staff who fail to hit that target will lose 25% of their commission and risk losing a further 25% if they miss another target, which is believed to be around £7,000.
The structure is changing from the current volume-related system where staff need to sell 40 contracts and 40 pay-as-you-go handsets per month to get top commission.
One Phones 4u source said: ‘They are trying to make sales people more competitive.’
Phones 4u were not available to comment.
