Dean Merrion in at Blyk
Ad-funded virtual network Blyk has announced former Virgin Mobile’s Dean Merrion is joining as its new director of member sales and marketing.
Merrion starts in March and will devise the UK marketing strategy, which is a key factor in determining whether the company can hit its target of gaining 100,000 subscribers within the first year.
Merrion previously held the head of direct sales, online and marketing at Virgin Mobile, where he was responsible for the growth and management of its online and direct channels.
Blyk’s UK CEO Shaun Gregory said: ‘Dean has an outstanding track record for customer acquisition and growing youth mobile audiences. He comes to Blyk with over ten years telecommunications experience and with extensive brand development expertise.’
Gregory claims that Blyk is currently on track to achieve it’s user target, and says the company has an average user response to its advertising of 29%, which he believes is unprecedented for any form of UK media.
